Long weekend
Last weekend was nice. I feel like we accomplished a few tasks around the house that I have been wanting to get done.

Saturday I dug out the grass next to the drive way so that we could lay down pavers, and have a little area next to that to have flowers and plants, you know make it look like we actually care about our yard ;)

Sunday night we had people over to BBQ had a few drinks, got a little silly, and went out in public ;)

BestFriends
Our friend Whitney's dog Noogie got to sleep over last night. He is one of the cutest, sweetest little nubby legged dachshunds. Carl and Noogie are best friends, they have been since day one. They chase each other around, wrestle, Noogie "beaks" Carl, (he has quite the overbite), and Carl will come out of nowhere and tackle Noogie. Its pretty entertaining to watch. That's what we do for kicks around here on a Friday night!

Tornado
In my 11 years of living in Fort Collins I have never been so nervous as I was today. A mile wide tornado touched down east of here, and went through the small town of Windsor, where I used to live with my friends Christine and Brian. It was moving quickly at 35 mph and was headed straight for Fort Collins. The weather was crazy...wind, then hail, then sun, then rain, then wind, then sun, then hail...you get the drift. We dont have a basement so my alternative is to go down into our creepy crawl space for cover, which believe me I would have thrown the cat and the dog down there with me! Luckily I didnt have to do that, we just got the weather, Windsor was hit the worst. Christine and Brian and all their animals are fine, and only minor damage to their house from the wind. I have never been in a tornado, or really even close to being in one, and believe me I do not want to be that close again! (that top picture is I-25, the bottom is my creepy crawl space)

The point
Camping Riley
We got back last night from camping in Moab. It was great, the weather was perfect...in the 80's up at the campsite and a little hotter down near town around the 90's (which is not so perfect).
We took Riley along this year, her first camping trip. She did fantastic! I had looked up a couple places online to take her hiking, Negro Bill Canyon
and Mill Creek Canyon. Negro Bill was beautiful, it had a great trail that crossed through the stream, which was great for cooling off.
Riley loved it, she would get in the water up to her chest and just open her mouth and bite at the water
passing by. Her feet are not used to all the rocky terrain so we wrapped up her feet with some vet wrap to help keep her comfortable and because we all just love the movie Flashdance ;)

Moab
This Thursday w
e are heading to Moab, Utah (one of our annu
al camping trips) The weather is supposed to be in the 80's with lows in the 40's, which is nice compared to other years when we have arrived in a snow storm. The only thing different this year is that I am bringing Riley. This will be her 1st camping trip, I know...she's 9! She's way too old to have not gone camping yet! Hopefully she does well ;)

I'm so old
We went to see this group last night at one of our two concert venues here in town. That was my first time seeing them...They put on a great show! I highly recommend going if you haven't before. The girl in the band has an amazing voice, and she is adorable! It's well worth the exhaustion I am experiencing today.
Apparently I'm old and I cant handle going to shows when the headliner starts at 11pm and I have to be to work at 7am :( the beer probably didn't help either.Thursday, May 8, 2008
If you cant beat them...
Here goes nothing...
Unfortunately I have no exciting news for everyone, no wedding, no baby, no new pet to love on
What I do have is a terrible back yard, its overgrown with weeds and undergrown with grass. So last weekend we started the never ending project of "landscaping" when Matt decided to get 6 TONS of river rock! Now we just have to figure out what to do with
the leftover 2-3 tons.
