2nd sewing class

So my first sewing class went ok...I was pretty frustrated when I left. But last Sunday I took another class with my friend Chris, and I actually made something functional and didn't fall apart! It kind of makes me want to make more ;)

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone has a great Halloween. I cant wait to see pictures of all you little ones dressed up :) I was so excited about my costume idea...but I forget how old we are, no one really got it. Please tell me you remember the B52's "Rock Lobster"!

Long absence

It has been a long time...I have been somewhat busy, but not really. Mainly I have been really lazy, and there is nothing too exciting going on in my life right now. Tonight I take my first sewing class...its crazy that I am 32 and have no idea how to use a sewing machine. My mom tried to teach me when I was in 5th grade, but it didn't stick. Hopefully I get the hang of it this time ;)

Riley is doing ok right now. We have had a couple scares within the past month. She collapsed again at the end of September, and then again just a week ago, both times while playing. They have no idea why? There could be a several different reasons, one being that the cancer has spread to her brain? Or maybe a totally unrelated heart issue (her heart occasionally beats too fast and does not pump blood sufficiently). She is due for a recheck next week. Next weekend I will be participating in a walk here in town to raise money for cancer research, the organization raises money for comparative research, looking for possible causes (in both people and dogs).

Anyway...that's been pretty much it right now. The weather is turning here, the leaves are changing color and falling, it is time for me to get motivated again for some hat making ;)

Last time I was home my mom gave me a box she found in my room...I saved a bunch of notes that we used to write to each other back in school. All I have to say is I have no idea how we graduated...we all had severe cases of ADD ;)

1st attempt

Over the weekend we made Blueberry-jalapeno jam that we canned...it was our 1st attempt at both. It went pretty smooth...although I have no idea how the jam tastes cause we canned it before we sampled it. Hopefully we get a good amount of tomatoes so we can have fresh tomatoes all winter :)

Matt fashioned this lovely hat for Carl this morning out of an egg carton and some cat toys...he was not impressed.

More swimming...

I think we will try to make this a weekly occurrence...it tires Pete out and Riley has a great time too :) This time Tim's dog Brewer came along and showed Pete and Goose that they could go out twice as far as before

Long weekend- Monday July 5th

We finished out the weekend with a trip up to Horsetooth so Pete could swim, and Riley could run...And even Noogie went "swimming" for the first time, he did not like it too much

The boys made grilled pizza on the 4th...even in the downpour that lasted for several hours. It stopped just in time for fireworks that we watched from the street :)

I thought I was being nice by adding ice cubes to Pete's water...instead I just confused him. It doesn't take much ;)

Taste of Fort Collins

On Sunday the rain stopped just in time for us to head downtown...Taste of Fort Collins was going on despite the weather, and the band we went down to see was Soul Asylum ;) Crazy right? And kind of sad...Well, they didn't sound too bad, but they didn't sound like they were really excited to be "here". They kept saying how it was great to be here, where is here...they never said Fort Collins or Colorado once...I don't know if they even knew where they were. Anyway they played Runaway Train, then we left...Still a good time ;)

Rainy Weekend

Last weekend the weather was miserable pretty much the whole weekend...so we were busy with inside projects on the house. Matt installed 2 ceiling fans, he had to go up in the attic and run wire, so thank god it was in the 50's and raining. We now have one in the bedroom and the living room. Its really nice ;)I did some painting, I touched up the hallway wall and I painted a bench for outside. And while I was out painting the bench, Pete found a great way to entertain himself!

Ohhhh!!! He went immediately into the bath tub :(

Vultures

There is a roost of turkey vultures that come back to the same three trees every year about a 1/2 a mile away from my house. They have been doing this for 40 some years, no one can figure out why they return to the same spot each year, especially because their home is downtown, on Mountain Ave, which is a pretty busy street. They are neat to see flying/soaring around town or just hanging out in the trees. They will be here into the fall, then they head down to South America.

One more day

I got to spend one more afternoon with Dana and Bea. It was awesome ;) We talked, we played with toys, and watched a little Shaun the Sheep! And I finally got that picture of the three of us I wanted! I love you Dana, I miss you like crazy, come back to the states!!!
