Its been a rough last couple days (or weeks)
My mom had surgery yesterday afternoon. She had gone in for an MRI on her back a few weeks ago (due to unrelated problems)...and they found a growth on one of her kidneys. It looked suspicious so they wanted to get it out of there and figure out what exactly it was. The surgery went well, it took about 2 hours and she did well through out.
When they got in there they found that the mass had what they call little "finger" like projections that went further into the kidney. So they removed the entire kidney, which was not the plan, but if its cancer that would pretty much be the treatment. They said that everything around it looked normal, the lymph nodes were not affected, it just seemed to be in that one area.
We should find out on Friday (hopefully) what it was, the doctor says he is 95% sure it is some sort of cancer. I believe they caught it early enough though which is a good thing. She should get out of the hospital on Friday :)
Hopefully she is not upset that I told everyone this way... but I thought you all should know.
So no more hospitals for a long time! We have spent way too much time there over the last 4 weeks :( Only for happy reasons now!!

Oh wow. I knew something must have been going on since you hadn't posted in awhile. Im glad they caught it early. Please send your mom my love.
